Algerian karateka Oussama Ziyad (-75 kg) gave Algeria its fourth gold medal of the 2022 Mediterranean Games by beating Egyptian Abdelaziz Abdalla 5-4 in the final on Sunday at the Mohamed Ben Ahmed Conference Center of Oran.
This is the fourth vermeil medal for the Algerian karateka on the first day of competition, after the first three obtained by Sylia Ouikene (-50 kg) and Louiza Abouriche (-55 kg), and Chaima Midi (-61 kg) against a silver medal for Alaa Selmi (-60 kg).
The two bronze medals in the (-75 kg) category went to Italian Luigi Busa and Bosnian Turulja Hamza.
