Tokyo Olympics 2020/Boxing: 5th place for the Algerian Khelif, eliminated in the quarterfinals

The Algerian Imane Khelif (60 kg) was knocked out from Boxing Tokyo Olympics, following her loss to the Irish Harrington Kellie Anne (5-0), Tuesday at the Arena of Kokugican.

The 22-year-old Algerian, who thus finishes in 5th place in these Tokyo Olympics, could not withstand against the Irish (31 years), world champion 2018. In the eighth finals, Khelif Imane (60 kg) had taken over the Tunisian Meriem Homrani.

She is the last Algerian participating in this Olympic sport, after the knock out, in the first round, of her teammates Boualem Roumaissa (51 kg) and Ichrak Chaib (75 kg).

In men’s category, Abdelhafid Benchabla (91 kg), Younes Nemouchi (75 kg), Chouaib Bouloudinats (+91 kg), Mohamed Houmri (81 kg) and Mohamed Flissi (52 kg) were knocked out in the 8th finals.

Eight Algerian boxers (5 men and 3 women) took part in Tokyo Olympics.

Thirteen final matches are scheduled for the competition (8 men’s and 5 women’s). The semi-finals are scheduled for August 4, 5 and 6. The finals will be held on August 7 and 8.
